About the Story
The series, based on the manga by Kuzushiro, follows Nana Futami, a rookie shoujo manga artist chasing her dream of publishing a shogi-themed story titled Subaru e. While she receives support from her sharp editor and dependable assistant, Futami struggles with health issues, tight deadlines, and creative blocks—often slipping into quirky delusions fueled by late-night snacks.
Originally published as a one-shot in Kodansha’s Kiss magazine in February 2019, the manga began serialization on Comic Days in May 2019.
With its unique blend of slice-of-life humor and a behind-the-scenes look at manga creation, A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace is shaping up to be a refreshing addition to the Fall 2025 anime lineup.
