Square Enix has officially revealed the next major expansion for its MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV during the opening of the FF XIV Fan Festival. Titled Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold, the expansion is scheduled to launch in January 2027.
The announcement was accompanied by a cinematic presentation, with producer and director Naoki Yoshida, widely known as Yoshi-P, outlining the direction of the upcoming content.
Evercold will mark the start of a new arc called the “Godless Realms Saga,” setting the stage for the next phase of the game’s long-running storyline. According to Yoshida, the expansion represents a major step forward for the title following previous story conclusions.

Players will take on the role of the Warrior of Light as they explore a new setting known as “The Fourth,” described as a ruined reflection of the world of Hydaelyn.
Ahead of the expansion’s release, Square Enix confirmed that Patch 7.5 will arrive on April 28. The update is expected to begin laying the groundwork for the events leading into Evercold, offering players an early glimpse into the upcoming storyline.
