A second season of the television anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days has officially been announced. The news was revealed on Saturday during the Jump Festa ’26 event, where organisers also unveiled a teaser trailer and a new visual, confirming that production on the follow-up season is underway.

The anime’s first season premiered on January 11 on TV Tokyo and its affiliated channels, with a simultaneous global debut on Netflix. The season was split into two parts, with the second half beginning broadcast in mid-July. Netflix streamed the opening episode of the second part in advance, while the finale aired alongside the Japanese television broadcast.

The anime is based on the manga by Yuuto Suzuki, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in November 2020. Suzuki first introduced the concept through a one-shot published in Jump Giga in December 2019. Since then, the manga has gained a strong following for its blend of action and comedy.

In English, the manga is published digitally by Viz Media and MANGA Plus, with Viz also releasing physical editions. The story follows Taro Sakamoto, a legendary hitman who leaves his deadly profession behind to start a family and run a small neighborhood store—only to find that his violent past refuses to stay buried.

Beyond animation, the franchise is continuing to expand. A live-action film adaptation is scheduled to open in Japan on April 29. The film stars Ren Meguro as Taro Sakamoto and Fumiya Takahashi as Shin Asakura, with Yūichi Fukuda directing and writing the screenplay.

While details about the broadcast window and staff for the second anime season have not yet been disclosed, the announcement confirms that Sakamoto Days will continue its momentum across multiple media formats, following a successful debut and growing international audience.
