The television anime adaptation of Gachiakuta, based on the manga by Kei Urana, has been officially renewed for a second season. The announcement was made by the anime’s production staff on Monday, shortly after the broadcast of the first season’s final episode.

To mark the occasion, Urana shared a celebratory illustration, while series graffiti designer Hideyoshi Ando also contributed a special visual highlighting the renewal. Both illustrations were published through the anime’s official channels.

The first season of Gachiakuta premiered in Japan on July 6, airing on CBC, TBS, and 26 additional networks nationwide. Internationally, Crunchyroll began streaming the series on the same day across multiple regions, including North America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent. An English dub is also available on the platform.

The anime stars Aoi Ichikawa as Rudo, alongside Katsuyuki Konishi as Enjin, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Zanka, and Yumiri Hanamori as Riyo. The series is directed by Fumihiko Suganuma at BONES, with series composition handled by Hiroshi Seko. Character designs are by Satoshi Ishino, who also serves as chief animation director, while music is composed by Taku Iwasaki.

The manga is serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine, where it debuted in February 2022. Ando is credited with the distinctive graffiti designs that have become a defining visual element of the series. Kodansha released the 17th collected volume of the manga on November 17, and Kodansha USA Publishing publishes the series in English.

Set in a stark, divided world, Gachiakuta follows Rudo, a young man living in the slums beneath a floating city, who is falsely accused of murder and cast into a wasteland filled with monstrous beings born from discarded refuse. To survive and uncover the truth, he must harness a mysterious power and join the Cleaners, a group dedicated to fighting the creatures of the abyss.

Details regarding the release window or staff changes for the second season have not yet been announced. However, the renewal confirms that the dark action series will continue its story following a strong debut and growing international audience.
