Fire Force Final Season Reveals Trailer, Theme Songs, New Cast

The official website for the Fire Force anime has unveiled new details for the second and final cour of the series’ third and concluding season. The update reveals the theme song artists, newly announced cast members, and the main promotional trailer.

The new video highlights the opening theme “Ignis” performed by Takanori Nishikawa, while Survive Said the Prophet provides the ending theme “Speak of the Devil.”

New Cast Member

Veteran voice actor Hōchū Ōtsuka will join the cast as Hibachi Shinmon, the former leader of the Asakusa Fire Brigade and the predecessor of Company 7’s current captain.

Premiere Details

The second cour of season 3 will debut on January 9 during the Animeism programming block on MBS, TBS, and CBC. Each episode will be available on Netflix in Japan shortly after airing on TV.

The first half of the final season premiered on April 4 on MBS, TBS, and BS-TBS. Netflix is streaming the season exclusively within Japan.

Crunchyroll is streaming the series for viewers across North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS, including an English dub.

Staff Changes for the Final Season

The third season comes with several updates to the production staff:

  • Sei Tsuguta is now supervising and writing the scripts
  • Mika Yamamoto joins as sub–character designer
  • Yoshihiro Yoshioka and Mariko Kubo join Yumenosuke Tokuda as chief animation directors
  • Yumi Horikoshi becomes the new art director
  • Kōji Kodera steps in as CG director
  • Ryō Ōhashi is now credited as VFX supervisor
  • Natsuki Takei is promoted to compositing director of photography

The third season was first announced in May 2022.

About the Manga

Atsushi Ohkubo, also known for Soul Eater, launched Fire Force in 2015 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The manga concluded in February 2022, and its 34th and final volume was released in Japan that May.

Kodansha USA publishes the series in English and summarizes the story as follows:

Tokyo is gripped by fear as people begin to spontaneously combust, becoming demonic Infernals. To combat this threat, a special force of firefighters—known as the Fire Force—is formed. Among its newest recruits is Shinra Kusakabe, who can ignite his feet and sprint like a rocket, leaving behind the iconic “devil’s footprints.” The team must uncover the truth behind this phenomenon before the entire city goes up in flames.

Anime History

The Fire Force anime first aired in July 2019 with a 24-episode season, followed by a second 24-episode season in July 2020. Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed both seasons, including English dubs. The series also aired on Toonami, with Season 1 debuting in July 2019 and Season 2 arriving in October 2020.
