The production team behind the Dark Gathering anime, based on Kenichi Kondō’s manga, has officially announced that a second season is in the works. Alongside the news, the anime’s official website revealed a teaser visual for the upcoming season, which will take the story to Kyoto. The main cast and key staff members will also be returning for the new chapter.
The first season of Dark Gathering premiered on Tokyo MX on July 9, 2023, airing at 25:05 (effectively July 10 at 1:05 a.m.). It later broadcast on BS Asahi and Kansai TV, with HIDIVE streaming the series worldwide as it aired. The anime also made its North American debut at Anime Expo on July 3, 2023.

The cast features Yū Sasahara as Yayoi Hōzuki, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Keitarō Gentōga, Kana Hanazawa as Eiko Hōzuki, and Rina Kawaguchi as Ai Kamiyo.
Hiroshi Ikehata (FLCL Progressive, Kiratto Pri☆Chan, Space Battleship Tiramisu) returns to direct the series at OLM.
Based on Kondō’s original manga, Dark Gathering follows Keitarō Gentōga, a young man who can communicate with spirits. After a traumatic possession incident in junior high that injured someone close to him, Keitarō withdrew from society for over two years.
When he finally returns to the world as a private tutor, he meets Yayoi Hōzuki, a prodigious girl who quickly senses his supernatural ability. She persuades him to join her in exploring haunted places, leading the two to embark on a perilous quest to capture malevolent spirits.
