On Saturday, the staff of The Irregular at Magic High School anime made an exciting announcement – a new television anime series is in the works and is set to air next year. The original character designer, Kana Ishida, created a teaser visual accompanying the promotional video revealing this news.

Fans can look forward to the return of familiar voices, as the returning cast includes Saori Hayami as Miyuki Shiba, Yūichi Nakamura as Tatsuya Shiba, and Kiyono Yasuno as Minami Sakurai. Seeing these beloved characters returning to life on the small screen is excellent.

The new series will be directed by Jimmy Stone, who worked as an animation director and episode director on the franchise’s previous anime projects. Studio 8-Bit, which worked on the earlier adaptations, is also returning to handle the animation. Additionally, Taku Iwasaki, known for composing music for popular series like Black Butler and Gurren Lagann, will be back to create the music for this new installment.

The Irregular at Magic High School is based on Tsutomu Satou’s light novel series of the same name, which began in 2008 and concluded with its 32nd volume in September 2020. The series has succeeded, with two sequels released in October 2020 and January 2021.

Yen Press has published the English versions of The Irregular at Magic High School and The Honor Student at Magic High School for those who enjoy reading the original light novels or spinoff manga.

The anime franchise has seen previous success with a TV anime that premiered in April 2014 and ran for 26 episodes. Later, a second season titled The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor Arc aired for 13 episodes starting on October 3. The Irregular at Magic High School also received a film titled The Girl Who Summons the Stars, released in Japan in June 2017.

Furthermore, The Honor Student at Magic High School manga inspired a 13-episode TV anime that premiered on July 3, 2021.
