The upcoming anime adaptation of Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You has officially introduced its lead voice actors. Takuya Sato will portray Sasaki, while Seena Hoshiki is set to voice Yamada, also known as Tamaya.
Alongside the announcement, a new trailer highlighting the cast was released. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2026.

About the Series
The anime is based on a manga that first appeared as a webcomic on Twitter in March 2022 before being picked up by Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan later that August.
The series has steadily grown in popularity, with Square Enix Manga & Books handling the English release. Currently, four volumes are available in English, with the fifth volume arriving on August 12, 2025.
Story
Square Enix describes the series as a “sweet-and-sour comedy” built around an unlikely relationship. The story follows Sasaki, a 45-year-old office worker worn down by corporate life, who finds small comfort in smoking breaks and the friendly demeanor of supermarket cashier Yamada.
After one particularly rough day, Sasaki discovers Yamada missing—only to be approached by a mysterious, playful woman named Tayama, who invites him to share a smoke. What Sasaki doesn’t realize is that Tayama and Yamada are the same person, leading to an unusual but heartwarming bond.
