DMM Games and Too Kyo Games have officially released their new multi-genre adventure title Shuten Order for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. To mark the launch, story writer Kazutaka Kodaka shared his thoughts on social media.
“This ambitious project about a religious cult and the shocking murder of its leader is packed with five adventure games,” Kodaka wrote. “Thanks to DMM GAMES, we were able to bring such an edgy and daring game to console players. It’s not about shock value for its own sake—the twists exist because of this unique setting. I think it’s been a while since we pulled off a trick that only games can deliver, so I hope players experience that sense of surprise for themselves. Happy New End… Have a good end.”

The novel is set five years before the game’s events and follows Manji Fushicho before she became the Minister of Security. Captured by heretics and subjected to a brutal “awakening test,” she faces a defining choice that forges her future as the feared “Queen of Heretic Hunting.”
