The Combat Recon quest in Arc Raiders sends you deep into the Buried City, where you’ll need to scout specific locations and take down Spotters for their components. The tricky part is that Spotters never appear alone—they always stay close to Bombardiers, which are among the most dangerous enemies in the area.
Below is a clear breakdown of where to go, what to look for, and how to survive long enough to finish the mission.
How to complete the Combat Recon quest

To finish Combat Recon, you must:
- Scope out three cover locations in Buried City
- Eliminate two Spotters
- Collect a Spotter Relay and deliver it to Shani in Speranza
You don’t need to destroy a Bombardier, but you will need to operate near one. If Buried City has the Bird City modifier active, traversal is easier thanks to additional rooftop ziplines.
Scope out the cover locations
Parking Garage stairwell

Make your way to the roof level of the Parking Garage and enter the stairwell on the north side. Inside, you’ll find an interaction prompt that completes this objective.
Marano Park (central park area)

Head to the west side of the park in the middle of the city. Look for a large bus half-buried in sand—the interaction point is on the side of the bus facing nearby buildings. Be careful here, as the park is usually patrolled by high-level enemies and offers very little protection.
Main Street attics

Travel south to Plaza Rosa and climb onto the rooftop of the westernmost building. Open the skylights and drop inside. The interaction point is located in the building’s attic.
How to find and kill Spotters
Spotters are small hovering drones that escort Bombardiers, so locating a Bombardier is the key to finding them. All three areas you’ve just visited—the Parking Garage, Marano Park, and Main Street—can spawn Bombardiers along with their Spotters.
Bombardiers are extremely lethal, using long-range, arcing explosive attacks. Spotters act as scouts, marking you so the Bombardier can land devastating mortar shots.
Survival tips
- Fight from inside buildings or rooftops to stay out of direct fire
- Focus on killing the Spotters quickly
- After destroying them, you have roughly 30 seconds before replacements appear
- Break the line of sight and wait until the Bombardier loses interest
Once the Bombardier moves on, loot the destroyed Spotters to collect the Spotter Relay. The item isn’t especially valuable, so you can safely turn it in to Shani to complete the quest.
With patience, good positioning, and careful timing, Combat Recon becomes much more manageable—even with a Bombardier looming nearby.
