Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3 Confirmed for October 2027, Golden Land Arc to Be Adapted

The official website of the anime adaptation of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has confirmed that the series will return with a third season in October 2027, continuing the story with the highly anticipated Golden Land arc.

The announcement was accompanied by a new visual featuring the character Macht of the Golden Land, signalling the direction of the upcoming storyline.

The third season arrives shortly after the conclusion of Season 2, which wrapped up this week. The new installment will dive deeper into one of the manga’s most pivotal arcs, known for its darker tone and complex character developments.

The anime is based on the manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, which has gained global recognition for its reflective storytelling and emotional depth.

Strong Production Team Returns

The second season saw several adjustments in the creative team, with Tomoya Kitagawa stepping in as director, supported by Keiichirō Saitō, who directed the first season.

Key returning staff include:

  • Tomohiro Suzuki handling series composition
  • Evan Call composing the soundtrack
  • Madhouse continuing as the animation studio

The character design team was refreshed for Season 2, with contributions from Takasemaru (Akiko Takase), Keisuke Kojima, and Yuri Fujinaka, while visual and technical departments retained experienced staff across art direction, color design, and cinematography.

Music and Broadcast Details

Season 2 premiered on January 16 on NTV’s “Friday Anime Night” programming block and featured music by Mrs. Green Apple (opening theme “lulu”) and milet (ending theme “The Story of Us”).

The series continues to stream internationally via Crunchyroll, reaching audiences worldwide, including India.

The anime first premiered in September 2023 with a two-hour special and ran for two consecutive cours until March 2024. Its blend of fantasy, introspection, and character-driven storytelling quickly earned critical acclaim and a strong global fanbase.

The story follows Frieren, an elf mage who outlives her companions after defeating the Demon King, as she embarks on a journey to understand human emotions and the passage of time.

Manga Status and Publication

The original manga is serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday, published by Shogakukan, and is available in English through Viz Media.

The series has experienced intermittent breaks, including a current indefinite hiatus that began in October, as the creators focus on their health and reassess the pacing of serialization.
