Electronic Arts has confirmed on the official Battlefield 6 website that there are no current plans to support the Steam Deck. While that doesn’t entirely rule out the possibility for the future, fans shouldn’t expect any form of compatibility in 2025—not at launch, and likely not anytime later in the year either.
Adding to that, the game will also skip the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, further signaling that EA isn’t focusing on handheld or hybrid gaming platforms for this release. At least for now, the publisher seems fully committed to delivering a high-end experience on more powerful systems.
Battlefield 6 Platforms & Beta
Battlefield 6 is officially set to launch on October 10, 2025, exclusively for:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC
An open beta is also scheduled for August, giving players a chance to dive into the gameplay ahead of the full release and get a taste of what the latest entry in the series has to offer.
PS5 Pro Enhancements
While support for handheld gaming is off the table, EA has confirmed enhancements for the PS5 Pro version of the game. Details are still limited, but the team promises improved visual performance tailored to Sony’s upgraded console.
This makes sense considering the franchise’s heavy focus on realistic visuals and large-scale environmental destruction, which can push current-gen hardware to its limits. Leveraging the added power of the PS5 Pro could help Battlefield 6 deliver smoother performance and sharper detail where it matters most.
The FPS Showdown: Battlefield vs. Call of Duty
This year marks the first true head-to-head matchup between Battlefield and Call of Duty since 2021. Interestingly, Activision has not yet confirmed whether Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will support the PS5 Pro or handheld platforms like the Steam Deck or Switch 2.
With both franchises set to compete once again, fans can expect more updates soon as launch dates approach.
