The first wave of information about Battlefield 6 has revealed new details about what players can expect from EA’s upcoming first-person shooter. Alongside confirmation of open beta testing, we now have a better idea of how much storage space the game will require—at least on PC.

According to the game’s Steam page, the PC version of Battlefield 6 will require 55 GB for the minimum installation and 80 GB for the recommended setup. However, players won’t need to install everything at once.

In a statement to PC Gamer, EA confirmed that the game will feature a modular installation system, allowing users to download specific components as needed.

“There will be a shared base package, and then you can choose to separately install the main components—such as single-player, multiplayer, etc.,” said the company.

At this time, storage requirements for consoles—including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S—haven’t been officially shared.

Beta Now Available for Preload

EA has officially opened preload access for the Battlefield 6 beta across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players can now download the beta client ahead of the scheduled test periods.

Here’s how much storage space the beta requires on each platform:

  • Steam (PC): 35.7 GB
  • EA App (PC): 39.3 GB
  • PlayStation 5: 33.91 GB
  • Xbox Series X|S: 36.56 GB

Beta Test Schedule

The Battlefield 6 beta will take place in two separate phases:

  • Phase 1 (August 7–10):
Early access on August 7 and 8 for select players
Fully open to all players starting August 9
  • Phase 2 (August 14–17):
    Open to everyone

If you’re planning to participate, make sure to preload the beta early so you can jump straight into the action when the servers go live.
