A new teaser website went live on Monday to announce that Tōwa’s light novel series The World’s Strongest Rearguard: Labyrinth Country’s Novice Seeker (Sekai Saikyō no Kōei: Meikyūkoku no Shinjin Tansakusha) is getting a television anime adaptation.
To celebrate the news, illustrator Huuka Kazabana (who draws the original novels) and Rikizo (artist of the manga adaptation) each shared commemorative artwork.

The novels are licensed in English by Yen Press, which summarizes the story as follows:
Arihito Atobe, a burned-out corporate worker, dies in a sudden bus accident and is reborn in a fantasy world. Taking on the rare class of “Rearguard,” he supports his all-female party with skills that boost their offense, defense, and healing. As a bonus, simply holding the rearguard position strengthens his bonds with his teammates. Free from the grind of corporate life, Arihito sets out on a new adventure as a rookie Seeker.
The series began on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in April 2017 before Kadokawa published the first novel volume with Kazabana’s illustrations in November that same year. The ninth volume is set to release this Wednesday.
The manga adaptation by Rikizo debuted on Kadokawa’s Comic Walker in March 2018, with its first collected volume arriving that September. The ninth manga volume shipped on February 21. Yen Press also publishes the manga in English.
