Sony is reportedly preparing to increase the price of its first-party PlayStation 5 titles in India starting July 10, 2025, according to a report from High Chaos Run.

What’s Changing?

The price adjustments are expected to affect major Sony-published games on the PlayStation Store:

  • Death Stranding 2 – rising from ₹4,999 to ₹5,199
  • Astro Bot – increasing from ₹3,999 to ₹4,199

Other titles priced in the same brackets are also expected to follow the same pattern.

Why the Price Hike?

Sony hasn’t issued an official statement yet, but similar price hikes have been rolled out in Brazil and Turkey, where the company cited “challenging market conditions” and fluctuating exchange rates. Analysts believe the same factors may be behind the adjustment in India.

What About Pre-orders?

Players who already pre-ordered upcoming titles—such as Ghost of Yotei—will reportedly still receive them at the original price. However, from July 10 onward, all new pre-orders will reflect the higher pricing.

This move comes shortly after Sony quietly raised the price of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in India, jumping from ₹44,990 to ₹49,990. While no direct explanation was given at the time, Sony has previously attributed similar hikes in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand to inflationary pressures and unstable currency exchange rates.
