Netflix has announced that it will exclusively debut an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI on August 27 at 3 p.m. ET, marking an unusual collaboration with Rockstar Games ahead of one of the gaming industry’s biggest launches.

The presentation will give Netflix members the first opportunity to watch new footage from the highly anticipated title, which is scheduled to release later this year.

Announcing the partnership, Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s Vice President of Nonfiction Series, said the company was honored to work with Rockstar Games, describing Grand Theft Auto reveals as major cultural events.

“The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented,” Riegg said, adding that Netflix aims to become a destination for ambitious storytelling across different forms of entertainment.

One of Gaming’s Biggest Releases

Grand Theft Auto VI arrives more than 13 years after the launch of Grand Theft Auto V, making it one of the most anticipated video game releases in recent history.

Rockstar’s official synopsis follows protagonists Jason and Lucia, who become entangled in a sprawling criminal conspiracy across the fictional state of Leonida after a seemingly simple job goes wrong. The pair must rely on each other to survive as they navigate increasingly dangerous circumstances.

Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch as a digital download. Although the company plans to offer a physical retail edition, the package will contain a download code rather than a game disc.

The decision has disappointed many collectors who had hoped for a traditional physical release. The boxed edition will allow buyers to own retail packaging while downloading the game digitally.

Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The standard edition will be priced at $79.99, an increase over the launch price of Grand Theft Auto V.

Rockstar will also release an Ultimate Edition for $99.99. In addition to the base game, the premium version includes exclusive vehicles, weapons, apparel, and other in-game content tied to Jason and Lucia’s story.

The August 27 showcase is expected to provide fans with their most detailed look yet at the game before its release later this year.
