The official website for the anime adaptation of Grand Blue Dreaming has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming third season, confirming new cast additions and a major shift in the series’ setting.

The teaser also confirms that voice actress M.A.O will join the cast as Karina, a new character introduced in the upcoming arc.

New Character and Cast Additions

Karina is described as a German woman whom the protagonist Iori meets while returning home. A member of an otaku group, she has a deep admiration for Japanese culture, adding a new dynamic to the story.

Alongside her, several previously announced cast members will appear in Season 3:

  • Sayaka Ōhara as Sayaka Kotegawa, owner of the Palau branch of the Dolphin diving shop
  • Asami Seto as Chief, the lead staff member at the Palau location
  • Aya Suzaki as Maki, another employee working at the same shop

First Overseas Setting for the Series

Season 3 will take the story beyond Japan for the first time, with events unfolding in Palau, a Pacific island nation known for its diving locations.

The change in setting marks a notable departure from earlier seasons, which primarily took place in Japan, and is expected to introduce new scenarios centered around international travel and diving culture.

Premiere Scheduled for July 2026

The new season is set to premiere in July 2026, following the conclusion of Season 2, which aired its final episode in September. Notably, the second season had leaked online ahead of its official broadcast, with early footage already hinting at a continuation.

From Manga to Multi-Media Franchise

The anime is based on the manga by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka, which began serialization in Good! Afternoon in April 2014.

The story follows Iori Kitahara as he moves to a coastal town for college, only to find himself pulled into a chaotic lifestyle involving diving, friendships, and comedic misadventures.

The series has grown into a broader franchise over the years:

  • The first anime season premiered in 2018, with global streaming handled by Amazon Prime Video
  • A live-action film adaptation was released in 2020
  • The manga continues to be distributed digitally in English by Kodansha USA

Continuing a Popular Comedy Series

Known for its mix of college humor, diving themes, and exaggerated comedy, Grand Blue Dreaming has built a strong following both in Japan and internationally.

With a new international setting and expanded cast, Season 3 is expected to bring fresh scenarios while maintaining the series’ signature blend of humor and character-driven storytelling.
