Genshin Impact to Be Removed from PlayStation 4 Starting September 2025

HoYoverse has officially announced that Genshin Impact will be gradually phased out on the PlayStation 4, citing reasons such as hardware limitations, platform constraints, and other technical considerations.

The removal process begins on September 10, 2025, when the PS4 version will no longer be available for download or purchase through the PlayStation Store. However, players who already have the game in their library will be able to continue playing until April 8, 2026.

Sunset Timeline: Three Phases of Removal

HoYoverse shared a detailed plan outlining how the game will be retired from PS4 in three key stages:

September 10, 2025 – Genshin Impact will be delisted from the PlayStation Store. New players will no longer be able to download or purchase the PS4 version.
February 2026 – All in-game purchases and premium content on PS4 will be disabled, both from within the game and via the PS Store.
- Any purchased but unclaimed items must be redeemed before April 8, 2026, to avoid losing access.
April 8, 2026 – The game will be completely shut down on PlayStation 4. Even players with the game installed will no longer be able to access it. Additionally, the PS4 version will stop receiving updates or support.

Progress Won’t Be Lost — Migration Recommended

HoYoverse emphasized that the shutdown will not impact player progress. Data is stored via cross-platform accounts, so players can switch devices without losing their in-game achievements or inventory.

The company recommends players transition to PlayStation 5 or other supported platforms, including PC, mobile devices, and Xbox Series X|S.
