The Far Cry franchise has long been defined by its chaotic open worlds and larger-than-life villains, but after a string of divisive entries, Ubisoft may be preparing to shake up the formula. A new leak suggests that Far Cry 7 could take the series in a bold new direction.

A Family at War

According to a casting call posted on Reddit, the story of Far Cry 7 will center on the Bennet family, a wealthy dynasty from New England torn apart by internal conflict. Six members of the family are named in the leak—Layla, Dax, Brie, Christian, Henry, and Krista—though these names may be placeholders used for auditions.

The setup has been compared to Succession, hinting at a more grounded narrative built around greed, betrayal, and shifting power dynamics.

A Conspiracy-Fueled Villain

Every Far Cry game needs a memorable antagonist, and this leak claims the villain this time is Ian Duncan, described as a conspiracy theorist who has built an army of loyal followers. Duncan reportedly despises the wealthy elite and covets the influence they hold, making him a direct threat to the Bennet empire.

The leak also mentions supporting characters, including John Mackay and a doctor named Safna Kazan, who could play pivotal roles in the conflict.

Ubisoft has a track record of casting high-profile actors as villains—Far Cry 3 featured Michael Mando as Vaas, Far Cry 4 had Troy Baker as Pagan Min, and Far Cry 6 introduced Giancarlo Esposito as Antón Castillo. With this in mind, fans are already speculating on which actor could bring Ian Duncan to life in Far Cry 7.

Take It With Caution

Ubisoft has not confirmed these details, and leaks of this nature often change before release. Still, the premise of a family power struggle mixed with a conspiracy-driven antagonist would mark a fresh narrative direction for the long-running series.

Until Ubisoft officially lifts the curtain, fans will just have to wait and see if this leaked outline becomes the next chapter in Far Cry’s legacy.
