ATLUS and SEGA have unveiled a new trailer and substantial details for their upcoming title, Persona 5: The Phantom X. In a significant announcement for international fans, the companies confirmed that the English version will launch simultaneously with the Japanese release on June 26, 2025.
The announcement came during a special presentation hosted by freelance announcer Neki Matsuzawa, featuring key members of the development team and voice cast, including:
- Kaede Hondo (voice of Motoha Arai)
- Chika Anzai (voice of Yui)
- Yohsuke Uda (ATLUS Chief Producer)
- Yusuke Nitta (ATLUS Development Director and Main Scenario Planner)
- Jun Matsunaga (SEGA Development Producer)
- Yuta Sakai (SEGA Live Ops Director)

The decision to launch simultaneously worldwide was driven by international fan enthusiasm. During the presentation, Yusuke Nitta humorously remarked, “If we didn’t do a simultaneous release, there would be riots,” while acknowledging they had initially considered a staggered release schedule.
Yuta Sakai emphasized that the global launch strategy serves two key purposes: preventing spoilers and allowing the community to experience the game together. Pre-registration is now available across all platforms: iOS, Android, and PC via Steam. The game will support cross-platform functionality, enabling players to use a single game ID across multiple devices.
Enhanced School Life Gameplay
A significant addition to the Persona formula was revealed during the presentation. Sakai introduced a brand-new club activities system, marking a first for the Persona series. Players can now participate in various clubs, including music and soccer, adding greater depth to the daily life simulation aspects of gameplay.
“Players can enjoy school life in brand-new ways through these activities,” Sakai explained, while confirming that traditional Persona elements like part-time jobs and social interactions remain intact.
Collaborative Development Approach
The development of Persona 5: The Phantom X represents a collaborative effort between ATLUS, SEGA, and Perfect World. Yusuke Nitta described the challenges of this joint development process but emphasized how each team contributed their unique strengths to the project. The extended development timeline allowed the team to ensure the game meets the high standards associated with the franchise.
Jun Matsunaga highlighted their attention to detail, noting the challenges of creating a live service game that delivers the same narrative impact as a traditional console Persona experience. He reassured fans that the full game would live up to the expectations set by the trailer.
