After months of speculation, Microsoft has officially lifted the curtain on Forza Horizon 6 during its Xbox Tokyo Game Show showcase. The long-awaited sequel will launch first on PC and Xbox consoles in 2026, with a PlayStation 5 release planned for later.
“The teams at Playground Games and Turn 10 have poured their hearts into Forza Horizon 6, bringing Japan to life like never before,” said Xbox exec Matt Booty. “This has been the most-requested location since the very first game, and we can’t wait to share more next year.”

According to art director Don Arceta, advances in the series’ tech made the ambitious setting possible now. The Hot Wheels expansion for Forza Horizon 5, for example, directly influenced how Playground Games approached Tokyo’s elevated highways in FH6.
The game will balance Tokyo’s bustling cityscapes with Japan’s scenic countryside, including a drivable Mount Fuji. Seasonal changes, a Horizon series hallmark, will also return.
Fans have been clamoring for Japan as a Horizon location for years, with rumors heating up after a teasing post from a car import company tied to the franchise last month. While the reveal originally slipped early on Instagram, today’s showcase made it official: The Horizon Festival is finally headed to Japan in 2026.
The game will be available as an Xbox Play Anywhere title and will launch day one on Game Pass.
