The production staff behind the television anime adaptation of DAN DA DAN, based on the manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, announced during Anime Festa on Sunday that the series will return for a third season in 2027. Alongside the announcement, a new key visual for the upcoming season was unveiled.

The confirmation comes shortly after the conclusion of the anime’s second season, which aired from July 3 to September 18. That season was broadcast on MBS and TBS as part of the Super Animeism Turbo programming block, consisting of 12 episodes. International streaming was handled by Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu.

Season two was directed at Science SARU by Fūga Yamashiro and Abel Góngora, both of whom were previously involved with the first season. The new season retained the core cast, with Mutsumi Tamura voicing the character Evil Eye (Jashi). The second season featured the opening theme “Kakumei Dōchū” performed by Aina The End, while the ending theme “Doukashiteru” was performed by WurtS.

Ahead of its television broadcast, the first three episodes of season two were released theatrically as DAN DA DAN: EVIL EYE. The film was distributed in North America by GKIDS, opening in more than 1,000 theatres and earning approximately $3.1 million during its opening weekend. Similar theatrical previews were held in parts of Asia and Europe through regional partners.

The anime originally premiered in October 2024, quickly gaining attention for its mix of supernatural action, comedy, and romance. The story follows high school students Momo and Okarun, whose opposing views on ghosts and aliens lead them into a series of increasingly perilous paranormal encounters, ultimately drawing them closer together.

The manga is serialised on Shonen Jump+, with English-language releases handled by Viz Media and MANGA Plus.

While details about the plot and staff for the third season remain limited, the 2027 premiere window signals that DAN DA DAN will continue its long-term expansion as one of Shueisha’s most prominent modern anime adaptations.
