Prime Video’s crime drama Cross is gearing up for its second season, set to premiere on February 11, 2026, but attention has already shifted toward the show’s future beyond that. While the streaming platform has not yet confirmed a third season, creative plans suggest the story of Alex Cross is far from finished.
Season 2 continues to follow Alex Cross, portrayed by Aldis Hodge, as he investigates a vigilante targeting corrupt billionaires. Like the first season, the upcoming chapters draw inspiration from James Patterson’s iconic characters rather than adapting a single novel from the Alex Cross book series.
Has Cross Been Renewed for Season 3?
As of now, Prime Video has not officially renewed Cross for a third season. However, comments from the show’s creator suggest that long-term storytelling is already planned.
Creative Team Hints at a Multi-Season Plan
Series creator Ben Watkins has revealed that he envisioned the show as a multi-year project from the outset. In a recent interview, Watkins shared that while the ambition is to sustain the series for as many as ten seasons, he has personally structured a four-season narrative arc.
According to Watkins, elements introduced early in the series will play a larger role going forward. Story threads planted in Season 1 are expected to deepen in Season 2 and potentially come into sharper focus in a third season, should it move forward.
He also pointed to Kayla Craig as an increasingly significant presence in the story, describing her as a character who could challenge Alex Cross in unexpected ways.
Potential Cast for Season 3
Although casting details for a possible third season remain unconfirmed, Aldis Hodge is widely expected to return as Alex Cross if the show continues. Season 2 already brings back several familiar faces, including Isaiah Mustafa, Samantha Walkes, Johnny Ray Gill, Juanita Jennings, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, and Alona Tal.
The second season also expands the ensemble with new cast members, including Matthew Lillard, Jeanine Mason, and Wes Chatham, although it is unclear which of these characters will carry over into future episodes.
What to Expect Moving Forward
While Cross Season 3 has not yet been greenlit, the creative groundwork suggests a clear direction if Prime Video chooses to proceed. With a defined narrative plan and ongoing character development, the series appears positioned for continuation beyond its upcoming second season.
For now, fans will have to wait for an official renewal announcement, but all signs point toward a story designed to unfold over several years rather than concluding abruptly.
