CD Projekt Red has announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, with the updated edition scheduled to launch on September 29 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Existing owners will receive the remastered version as a free update.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt continues to draw attention more than a decade after its original release, having surpassed 65 million copies sold worldwide. The upcoming remaster adds another major update to the acclaimed role-playing game, while a separate expansion is also planned for 2027.
The remastered edition was revealed at gamescom 2026 and will introduce a range of technical and gameplay improvements. Players on PC will receive enhanced visuals featuring path tracing, along with performance optimizations designed to improve the overall experience.
The update will also make changes to combat and Geralt’s movement. Roach, Geralt’s horse, is also set to receive improvements, giving players another reason to revisit the open-world adventure.
Existing Players Get the Remaster for Free
Players who already own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not need to purchase the remastered edition. The new version will be delivered as a free update on September 29.
The remastered package will also include the game’s two major expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Players who own the base game without the expansions will be able to claim them at no additional cost as part of the update.
For Nintendo Switch 2 players and newcomers who do not already own the game, the remastered edition will be available as a separate purchase. The Switch 2 version is currently listed for pre-purchase at R$199.
On PC, the remastered edition has not yet received dedicated listings on Steam or GOG. Blizzard’s Battle.net store is currently the platform listing the remastered version for pre-sale, priced at US$50 and with updated system requirements.
New Expansion Planned for 2027
The remaster is not the only upcoming Witcher 3 release. CD Projekt Red has also announced a new expansion titled Songs of the Past, which is scheduled for sometime in 2027.
Details about the expansion remain limited, and the developer has not provided a specific release date or window. The new content is expected to introduce a new region along with additional equipment and enemies.
The expansion could significantly extend Geralt’s journey, particularly if it follows the scale of previous Witcher 3 expansions.
