Until Dawn 2 will launch on January 28, 2027, exclusively for PlayStation 5, Sony and developer Firesprite Games announced during Thursday’s State of Play presentation.
Firesprite also revealed that AdHoc Studio, the team behind Dispatch, has contributed to the horror sequel’s story, characters and dialogue. The collaboration brings together developers with experience in both cinematic storytelling and choice-driven games.
Until Dawn 2 Takes Players to Blackwood Sanatorium
The sequel follows the Dead True team, a group investigating the abandoned Blackwood Sanatorium while recording an episode about a series of tragic events that took place there more than a decade ago.
The new game features a notable cast, including Dacre Montgomery, known for Stranger Things and Power Rangers, as well as Neil Newbon, who played Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3. Peter Stormare will also return as Dr. Hill, reprising his role from the original Until Dawn.
Firesprite has not yet revealed every detail about the sequel’s branching story, but the setting and premise suggest that players can once again expect a horror experience built around investigation, character relationships and potentially deadly decisions.
Pre-Orders Open September 10
Pre-orders for Until Dawn 2 will begin on September 10.
Players who pre-order any edition before the game’s January 28 release will receive additional in-game costumes and collectibles. The Digital Deluxe Edition will include additional bonuses, such as a neon costume pack and special scenes exploring different perspectives on the game’s various fatal outcomes.
The sequel follows the original Until Dawn, which was developed by Supermassive Games. The studio subsequently became known for other interactive horror projects, including The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry.
Firesprite is taking over development duties for Until Dawn 2, marking a new chapter for the horror series while retaining its focus on cinematic storytelling and player-driven consequences.
