Avengers: Endgame is heading back to theatres this September with a new version designed to build anticipation for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Avengers: Doctor Doom. The re-release, titled Avengers: Endgame Encore, will arrive in cinemas on September 24 with additional footage and visual changes.
The 2019 blockbuster will return to the big screen as part of Marvel’s preparations for the next Avengers movie, which is scheduled to open in theatres on December 17.
Unlike a standard theatrical re-release, Avengers: Endgame Encore will include around four minutes of previously unseen footage. The film will also feature a more vibrant and saturated colour presentation compared with the original theatrical version.
The additional material will not alter the main storyline of Endgame. However, some of the new footage could offer clues about events or characters connected to Avengers: Doctor Doom.
Will Avengers: Endgame Encore Come to Disney+?
Disney has yet to officially announce a Disney+ release for Avengers: Endgame Encore. There is currently no confirmed streaming date for the updated version.
However, a dedicated page for the extended edition has reportedly appeared on Disney+, suggesting that the studio could eventually add the new cut to its streaming library.
Marvel has not confirmed when, or even whether, the theatrical version will be made available online. With Endgame expected to be an important part of the viewing lineup ahead of Avengers: Doctor Doom, Disney could choose to release the updated edition on Disney+ before the new movie reaches theaters.
For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement regarding its streaming plans.
Avengers: Doctor Doom Sets Up a New MCU Threat
The return of Avengers: Endgame comes ahead of what is expected to be another major chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Avengers: Doctor Doom is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and will feature Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Doctor Doom. Downey’s return marks a major change from his previous MCU role as Tony Stark, better known as Iron Man.
The upcoming film is expected to bring several major Marvel characters together as they face Doctor Doom and a threat with potentially far-reaching consequences for the universe.
