With new movies and TV shows arriving across streaming platforms every day, choosing what to watch can quickly become a chore. This weekend brings a particularly varied lineup, ranging from a new DC superhero adventure to the final season of a popular Australian comedy.
Whether you subscribe to HBO Max, Peacock, Apple TV, Netflix or Paramount Plus, there is something worth adding to your weekend watchlist.
Here are five movies and shows that stand out among this week’s streaming releases.
1. Last Seen

- Available: US and UK
- Where to watch: Apple TV
Apple TV’s first Australian original is a mystery thriller built around a devastating family disappearance.
Patrick Brammall stars as Ian Ridley, a former police chief who now works on emergency phone lines after his three-year-old daughter disappeared 11 years earlier. His life changes when a mudslide appears to uncover her remains, only for Ian to receive an emergency call from a young woman who he believes could actually be his daughter.
What follows is a desperate search for answers and a daughter Ian had long believed was gone forever.
Based on a novel and directed by The Crown filmmaker Christian Schwochow, Last Seen is designed as a slow-burning mystery that rewards viewers willing to follow the story week by week. The first two episodes arrived together, with subsequent episodes releasing on Wednesdays.
2. The Paper Season 2

- Available: US and UK
- Where to watch: Peacock in the US, Sky One and NOW in the UK
The newsroom comedy The Paper is back for a second season, with all 10 episodes available to watch.
The series follows employees at a struggling local newspaper and borrows some of the workplace-comedy formula that made The Office so popular. Expect eccentric personalities, workplace disasters, quick jokes and a romance that keeps viewers guessing.
It does not quite reach the heights of its famous predecessor, despite The Office creator Greg Daniels’ involvement, but the show has developed enough personality of its own to make the comparison less important.
Domhnall Gleeson remains one of its biggest strengths as newspaper editor Ned Sampson. Fans of The Office also have another reason to tune in: Oscar Martinez is returning as part of the show’s connection to the original series.
3. Supergirl

- Available: US and UK
- Where to watch: HBO Max
Supergirl may not have been a major theatrical success, but its disappointing box-office performance should not completely overshadow what the movie has to offer.
Milly Alcock takes on the role of Kara Zor-El in the latest DC Universe feature, bringing a different energy to the iconic Kryptonian hero. The movie is the second film in James Gunn’s first DCU chapter and takes place before the upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow.
That makes Supergirl an important watch for anyone planning to follow the developing DCU. And, naturally, Krypto the superdog provides another reason to spend some time in this new chapter of the franchise.
4. Call My Agent! The Movie

- Available: US and UK
- Where to watch: Netflix
Five years after the French comedy Call My Agent! ended its television run, the former ASK agency team returns for a feature-length continuation.
The story picks up years after the agency’s closure, with Andréa now working as a film director. Her latest production falls apart when its leading actor unexpectedly drops out, forcing the former team back together in an attempt to rescue the project.
The movie continues the series’ mix of workplace comedy and celebrity appearances. One of the show’s biggest attractions was its parade of famous guest stars, and the film keeps that tradition alive with several recognizable names.
Even viewers who have not followed every episode can enjoy the reunion, while longtime fans have plenty of familiar faces and unexpected appearances to look forward to.
5. Colin From Accounts, Season 3

- Available: US and UK
- Where to watch: Paramount Plus in the US, BBC iPlayer in the UK
One of Australia’s most charming comedy series has reached its final season, with all of Colin From Accounts Season 3 available for a weekend binge.
Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer return as Gordon and Ashley, an unlikely couple whose relationship began after an injured dog brought them together. The pair have always had an unconventional dynamic, but their relationship faces its biggest challenge after the events of Season 2.
The third season picks up from that fallout and explores whether Gordon and Ashley can find their way back to each other.
The show’s appeal comes from its messy, believable characters and the chemistry between its two leads. Brammall and Dyer are married in real life, which adds another interesting layer to their performances as a fictional couple who somehow manage to be both completely mismatched and strangely perfect together.
With its final season now available in full, Colin From Accounts is an easy choice for anyone looking for a funny and heartfelt binge this weekend.
